An extraordinary act of generosity to Concern and as a testament to Mulhall's vision of him, Bono has signed a portrait of himself by Mulhall which was an item at the 2002 Concern Charity Auction. The painting, which had been bought previously by a gallery patron, was donated to the auction where Bono saw it and agreed to sign it in order to increase it's value at auction. The synergy worked because the painting achieved a hammer price of 1,300 euros on the night.

Bono is deeply involved with Concern and also donated a number of personal artefacts for the auction to raise money for their essential aid work in Africa.
